What to Expect
Drive, Chip and Putt is open to boys and girls ages 7-15. Boys and girls will compete in separate divisions in four age categories: 7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13 years old; and 14-15 years old.
Competition Overview
- Each participant will compete in all three skills (Drive, Chip and Putt).
- Participants will attempt three shots per skill, for a total of nine shots. Participants accumulate points per shot in all three skills.
- The champion in each individual skill competition will be determined by the participant with the most points accumulated in that particular skill.
- The overall champion in each age category will be determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all three skills.
Drive Skill
- Each participant will attempt three drives from the same teeing area.
- All drives will be played to a 40-yard wide grid and the ball must come to rest in the grid to score points.
Chip Skill
- Each participant will attempt three chips from the same location approximately 10-15 yards from the hole.
- All chips will be measured and scored from the center of the hole with lines clearly marking the scoring rings.
Putt Skill
- Each participant will attempt three total putts, with one attempt from each of the following distances: 6’, 15’ and 30’.
- All putts will be measured and scored from the center of the hole with lines clearly marking the scoring rings.
Awards

Weather Policy
Kentucky PGA - Drive, Chip and Putt
In the event of inclement weather, every effort will be made to complete the Drive, Chip and Putt Local Qualifier on the scheduled date. The competition will be conducted in the rain as long as there are not dangerous conditions such as lightning.
Golf course becomes unplayable or we run out of daylight and need to cancel the event: in the event that we cease play and cannot finish, the event we will attempt to reschedule as soon as possible.
- Any division that has been completed and the awards have been handed out will remain finished and those divisions will NOT return for the rain reschedule.
- Any division that has NOT completely finished WILL return for the reschedule.
- If we have one or more players within an age division, for example, Boys 12-13, who have not completed all nine golf shots, ALL boys 12-13 will need to return for the reschedule date or re-register for a different local qualifier.
- Even if a player has completed each station and turned in their card, they will still need to return to compete on their rescheduled date.
- All competitors within an age division need to compete under the same circumstances, meaning we cannot have a player in the Boys 12-13 compete on Friday, and be playing against a Boy 12-13 on the reschedule date where the hole location and competition may be different.
