Event Information

Overview

In an effort to promote interest and participation in the game of golf, the USGA, Masters Tournament and PGA of America created Drive, Chip and Putt, a free, nationwide junior skills competition. The 11th Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals will take place at Augusta National Golf Club on April 6, 2025.

Eligibility

For the National Finalists, the journey to Augusta National began with 348 local qualifiers held across all 50 states throughout the summer. At local qualifying, no more than three scorers in the eight separate age and gender divisions advanced to 62 subregional qualifiers in July and August. From each subregional, two juniors in every division advanced to compete at the regional level in September and October. The top finisher from each division at 10 regional sites earned a place in the National Finals. All 41 Sections of the PGA of America assisted in conducting qualifiers for the National Finals.

Throughout each qualifying stage, boys and girls competed in separate divisions in four age groups:

7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13 years old; and 14-15 years old. Participants compete based on their ages as of Sunday, April 6, 2025.

Refusal of such an inspection or possession of prohibited items will result in exclusion/removal.

Scoring

The Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals is a new competition with no carryover from the regional competition. The event will be staged at the Tournament Practice Area and No. 18 green. Players accumulate points in each skill. The player in each division with the best performance at each skill will receive 10 points. The player with the second-best performance will receive 9 points, and so on, all the way down to 1 point.

If a division has a tie for first place overall in any skill, the winner will be determined by a playoff shot (a drive, chip or putt). If a division has a tie after all three skills, the winner will be determined by a one-putt playoff on the No. 18 green. All other ties will have points combined and split.

The participant with the highest number of combined points from all skills will be declared the overall champion of his or her division.

Drive

Each player will have two drives to record his or her longer distance drive that remains in bounds. A ball coming to rest on any of the boundary lines is considered in bounds. The player in each age group/division with the longest drive will receive 10 points and be the winner of the Drive Competition.

Chip

Each player will chip twice, and the cumulative distance from the hole will be recorded. The player in each age group/division with the closest cumulative distance from the hole will receive 10 points and be the winner of the Chip Competition.

Putt

Each player will attempt a putt from approximately 15’ and 30’ and will record his or her overall distance from the hole. The player in each age group/division with the closest cumulative distance after the two putts will receive 10 points and be the winner of the Putt Competition.
