How to Get There
What to Expect
Drive, Chip and Putt is open to boys and girls ages 7-15. Boys and girls will compete in separate divisions in four age categories: 7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13 years old; and 14-15 years old.
Competition Overview
- Each participant will compete in all three skills (Drive, Chip and Putt).
- Participants will attempt three shots per skill, for a total of nine shots. Participants accumulate points per shot in all three skills.
- The champion in each individual skill competition will be determined by the participant with the most points accumulated in that particular skill.
- The overall champion in each age category will be determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all three skills.
Drive Skill
- Each participant will attempt three drives from the same teeing area.
- All drives will be played to a 40-yard wide grid and the ball must come to rest in the grid to score points.
Chip Skill
- Each participant will attempt three chips from the same location approximately 10-15 yards from the hole.
- All chips will be measured and scored from the center of the hole with lines clearly marking the scoring rings.
Putt Skill
- Each participant will attempt three total putts, with one attempt from each of the following distances: 6’, 15’ and 30’.
- All putts will be measured and scored from the center of the hole with lines clearly marking the scoring rings.
Awards
- Prizes will be awarded to individual skill champions as well as overall champions for boys and girls in each age category.
Tee Times and Additional Information
- Tee times and any additional information needed for the qualifier will be shared via email communication after the close of registration.
General Event Information
Starting Times and What to Expect
Congratulations on advancing to the Regional competition at Medinah Country Club on Saturday, October 1st! Details for the event are outlined below:
Tee times will be emailed once all Sub-Regional qualifying is completed. Each participant MUST compete at their assigned starting time. There will be NO trading or switching tee times.
Tee time assignments will be similar to local qualifying but based on a field size 112 participants. The competition will be ordered as follows: Girls 7-9, Boys 7-9, Girls 10-11, Boys 10-11, Girls 12-13, Boys 12-13, Girls 14-15, and Boys 14-15.
Changing Regional competitions is not permitted per the national Drive, Chip and Putt rules and regulations.
Local Qualifying and Sub-Regional scoring has no impact on Sub-Regional Qualifying.
Pre-Event Information
Age Verification and Practice Session
All participants MUST verify their age in their Drive, Chip and Putt account. Players must submit a birth certificate or proper form of age verification to be eligible to compete. Please do this as soon as possible to avoid any issues on the day of the event.
Medinah CC has been kind enough to host a practice session from 4:30pm - 6:30pm on Friday, September 30th. This is an optional event, as players will be able to practice the day of the event as well. On Friday, players will be practicing at the Golf Learning Center on the property.
Day of Event Information
Warm-Up, Competition, and Food and Beverage
The Drive portion of the competition will take place on the tee box of Hole 1 of Course 3, the Chip competition will take place on the green of Hole 1 of Course 3, and the putt competition will take place on the practice green in front of the clubhouse.
Players must check in at the designated Registration table at least 20 minutes prior to their starting time. This is where each player will collect their scorecard and tee gifts.
There will be designated warm up areas at the Golf Learning Center for driving, chipping and putting. Please plan accordingly as space may be limited at certain points throughout the day.
There will be light snacks and drinks available throughout the day for CASH ONLY. There will not be a full food and beverage menu available, so please plan accordingly.
Post-Event Information
Award Ceremony and Media
The Awards Ceremonies take place for each gender / age division once all players are finished with the competition - there will be 8 throughout the day. Players are welcome to either stay for the awards ceremony or leave at their discretion. We award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each skill and overall.
The Golf Channel and other local media will be covering the event, so participants may be requested to be photographed or interviewed after competing.
The top overall point earner from each age division will advance to the National Finals at Augusta National Golf Course in April.
Rules
The Drive, Chip and Putt Executive Committee, its agents and subordinate organizers, reserve the right to make rulings and recommendations regarding the Drive, Chip and Putt competition.
