What to Expect

Drive, Chip and Putt is open to boys and girls ages 7-15. Boys and girls will compete in separate divisions in four age categories: 7-9 years old; 10-11 years old; 12-13 years old; and 14-15 years old.

What to Expect at Your DCP Local Qualifier

Competition Overview

  • Each participant will compete in all three skills (Drive, Chip and Putt).
  • Participants will attempt three shots per skill, for a total of nine shots. Participants accumulate points per shot in all three skills.
  • The champion in each individual skill competition will be determined by the participant with the most points accumulated in that particular skill.
  • The overall champion in each age category will be determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all three skills.

Drive Skill

  • Each participant will attempt three drives from the same teeing area.
  • All drives will be played to a 40-yard wide grid and the ball must come to rest in the grid to score points.

Chip Skill

  • Each participant will attempt three chips from the same location approximately 10-15 yards from the hole.
  • All chips will be measured and scored from the center of the hole with lines clearly marking the scoring rings.

Putt Skill

  • Each participant will attempt three total putts, with one attempt from each of the following distances: 6’, 15’ and 30’.
  • All putts will be measured and scored from the center of the hole with lines clearly marking the scoring rings.

Awards

  • Prizes will be awarded to individual skill champions as well as overall champions for boys and girls in each age category.

  • Tee times and any additional information needed for the qualifier will be shared via email communication after the close of registration.

Pairings, Tee Times, Maps and Other Details

Please click on the pairings tab above for tee times and pairings for the Indian Creek - Drive, Chip & Putt local hosted on Sunday, June 13.  Other details for the day are included here and were emailed out.  

Please feel free to reach out with any questions.  Please do not arrive prior to 45 minutes to your tee time.

Upon arrival check in near the putting green area, look for the Iowa PGA Tent. Range balls will be provided, but remember this is a warm up session, not a practice session.  Driving will be located near #4 tee box (across the road from driving range near entrance), chipping on #1 green and putting on #2 green.  Scoring and awards will be located in the same spot as the registration area near the putting green. 

  • Participants need to check-in at the registration table upon arrival– first thing.  You will receive your scorecard and additional information on the competition.  
  • You will be given a short amount of time (30 minutes) to warm up before you are expected to be at the Driving Station 5 minutes prior to your tee time.  Driving station is located near #4 tee box.  
  • The rotation schedule will be drive, chip, then putt.  
  • Participants will receive a small bucket of range balls to warm up.  Please remember this is a warm-up session, not a practice session.  There will also be space on the chipping/putting greens to warm up as well.  
  • Participants are not to practice in contest areas.  You may use your own balls and clubs, or some will be provided for you.  Retrieval of the golf balls used for the driving contest is not guaranteed.

To recap, check in first thing at the Iowa PGA Tent. Head towards the practice facility.  Warm up and then be at the Driving Station area (#4 tee box) 5 minutes prior to your tee time.

The top 2 in each division will advance on to sub-regional play on August 22 at Glen Oaks CC in W. Des Moines.

Food and beverage will be available for purchase.  Spectators are welcome; please be mindful of social distancing guidelines.  Below is a map of the contest area to assist you.  Please call or email with any questions.  See you Sunday, June 13, and Good Luck!

The Drive, Chip and Putt Executive Committee, its agents and subordinate organizers, reserve the right to make rulings and recommendations regarding the Drive, Chip and Putt competition.
