HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN GOLF?
Everything through my Dad. Watching golf, chipping & putting together, attending First Tee where my Dad volunteered. Also, DCP, PGA Junior League, & Op36 really helped to make the game fun early on.
WHO INTRODUCED YOU TO GOLF?
My Dad and Grandpa Duane
WHO DO YOU NORMALLY PLAY GOLF WITH?
I normally play golf with my Dad and other club members. Sometimes I will play with some of my friends from tournaments.
WHO IS YOUR GOLF INSTRUCTOR?
Trent Wearner
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT PLAYING GOLF?
My favorite thing about playing golf is all the people I meet, the challenge and landscapes of different courses, and creativity to make different shots. I love playing golf, but my favorite part is enjoying practicing and playing with family and friends (especially my Dad). Solo practice is great time to be by myself and reflect on my game and life.
WHAT PART OF GOLF DO YOU LIKE TO PRACTICE THE MOST?
I love to practice my wedges from 100 yds and in. I also love short game practice because there are so many different types shots I can practice and play.
WHAT’S THE MOST DIFFICULT THING ABOUT GOLF?
The most difficult thing about golf is the mental game. Staying calm, focused, and sharp from the night before to the very last putt of a tournament. This can be difficult sometimes when doubt creeps in or adversity hits, but is also something I work hard at.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLUB?
My putter because it is a very vintage piece (Wilson Tour Special II, 8802) and has a lot of character (rust spots/scratches)
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GOLF COURSE IN THE WORLD?
The Olde Course, St Andrews, Scotland (never played)
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN GOLF SO FAR?
Qualifying for Drive, Chip, and Putt Nationals.
HAVE YOU EVER PARTICIPATED IN A USGA OR PGA OF AMERICA EVENT? IF SO, WHICH ONE(S), WHEN, AND HOW DID YOU DO?
I play in PGA Colorado Section Junior Player Series. I won the end of year Tour Championship Tournament.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER JUNIORS PARTICIPATING IN DCP WHO ARE TRYING TO REACH THE NATIONAL FINALS?
Don't worry about being perfect. Keep grinding to the end, even after a missed grid, chip, or putt. Whether you're playing your best or worst, you never know how the rest of the field will do.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE?
Yes.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN FIRST TEE?
Yes, I participated in First Tee of Pikes Peak when I first started playing but I am not currently attending.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT PARTICIPATING IN DRIVE, CHIP AND PUTT?
It is a very different experience than normal tournaments. There's also a super-cool reward at the end!
