HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN GOLF?
I first got into golf by hitting balls with my dad and playing at a local par 3 with him. Because my parents are both teachers, we get to spend a lot of time golfing in the summer. We used to putt and chip for a couple hours and then go hit balls at Top Golf, and that made it super fun to practice.
WHO INTRODUCED YOU TO GOLF?
My dad introduced me to golf, and we still play together all the time.
WHO DO YOU NORMALLY PLAY GOLF WITH?
I usually play golf with my dad. It is one of our favorite things to do together.
WHO IS YOUR GOLF INSTRUCTOR?
Brad Fellers
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT PLAYING GOLF?
I love that golf is not a game of perfect, but I have a chance to get better every day!
WHAT PART OF GOLF DO YOU LIKE TO PRACTICE THE MOST?
It's all very important, so I practice it all every day. But I prefer going to the range to dial in my wedges and irons. Putting is probably the most important, but it can be boring at times if I don't make up competitive games to keep me focused.
WHAT’S THE MOST DIFFICULT THING ABOUT GOLF?
I think the hardest part about golf is staying focused and in control of my game for 4-5 hours during tournaments. A lot of people can hit the ball well or make a lot of putts in practice, but it is a lot harder to do it under pressure for a few hours in a row.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLUB?
My 60 degree wedge is my favorite because I can hit so many different types of shots with it.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GOLF COURSE IN THE WORLD?
Augusta National is my favorite course, and I can't wait to see it in person for the first time! But my favorite course that I have played is actually my home course - Prairie View Golf Club. My dad has coached his team to two state titles there, and I hope to get a few of my own when I get to high school.
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT IN GOLF SO FAR?
Making it to the Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finals is my favorite highlight. Other highlights include getting a hole in one in 2022, shooting 34 in the Indianapolis U.S. Kids Tour Championship, and I loved playing in the U.S. Kids World Championship three times.
HAVE YOU EVER PARTICIPATED IN A USGA OR PGA OF AMERICA EVENT? IF SO, WHICH ONE(S), WHEN, AND HOW DID YOU DO?
I played in the Girls Indiana Junior PGA Championship this summer, but I was coming off of an injury that prevented me from practicing for 4 months. It was not my best performance.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER JUNIORS PARTICIPATING IN DCP WHO ARE TRYING TO REACH THE NATIONAL FINALS?
Work hard and have fun. Golf is the best game in the world, but you have to be patient because you won't always feel like you are getting better each day.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT PARTICIPATING IN DRIVE, CHIP AND PUTT?
I love the pressure it puts on every single stroke. In the regional, you are almost required to bomb three drives down the middle, and you need to stick all three chips inside of 5 feet. I think you also feel pressure to make the 6 or 15 foot putt to advance.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS FROM YOUR LOCAL, SUBREGIONAL OR REGIONAL QUALIFIERS:
There were two former finalist in my subregional, so I knew that I needed to be almost perfect to advance. Unfortunately, I hit the first drive out of bounds. In the past, I may have panicked, but I considered that the ball flight was completely straight, so I knew that it was just an alignment issue. I stayed positive, hit two great drives, and then did really well on chipping and putting to win the subregional. At the regional, I got my best DCP score ever - 143!
HAVE YOU TRIED TO QUALIFIY FOR DRIVE, CHIP AND PUTT IN THE PAST? IF SO, PLEASE LIST EACH YEAR AND YOUR PREVIOUS RESULTS:
2018 - won the local & subregional // 3rd in putting at Bellerieve regional // 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022: advanced to subregional
DID YOU WATCH LAST YEAR’S DRIVE, CHIP AND PUTT NATIONAL FINALS ON TELEVISION? IF SO, WHAT IMPACT DID THAT HAVE ON YOUR PARTICIPATION THIS YEAR?
Yes! My family watches the Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finals every year! We love it. The past couple of years, we have known people from Indiana who were competing, so that has made it extra fun. Watching every year has inspired me to work harder because I have always wanted to qualify and compete at Augusta National!
LIST FROM STRONGEST TO WEAKEST – DRIVING, CHIPPING, PUTTING:
Driving, Chipping, Putting
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO THE MASTERS BEFORE? IF SO, WHEN?
No - we try to get tickets in the lottery, but we never get them.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GOLF ACCESSORY (HAT, HEADCOVER, BALL MARKER, ETC.)?
The Drive, Chip, and Putt head cover from Bellereive has been on my driver since 2018. My second favorite is my putter cover that I got after winning the regional at Scioto. It is designed with the original course layout sketch. I also love the Pinehurst bag tag that my friend bought me for my birthday during my first trip to the U.S. Kids World Championship.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MASTERS MEMORY? U.S. OPEN OR U.S. WOMEN’S OPEN MEMORY? PGA CHAMPIONSHIP OR WOMEN’S PGA CHAMPIONSHIP MEMORY?
I loved watching Tiger win the 2019 Masters. I also enjoy the replays of Tiger's chip in on hole 16 in 2005. I have seen it so many times, I feel like I saw it live.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY WATCHING GOLF ON TV?
Watching Scottie Sheffler win the 2022 Masters.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE MALE GOLFER, AND WHY?
Scottie Sheffler is my favorite player because he consistently finds a way to finish in the top five and he is an amazing ball striker.
WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FEMALE GOLFER, AND WHY?
Nelly Korda has a flawless swing, and I love her mental attitude. She is always in control and almost never shows emotion.
WHO IS THE COOLEST PLAYER IN GOLF, AND WHY?
Victor Hovland is the coolest because he always takes time to sign more autographs than anyone else and he always has a big smile on his face.
HAVE YOUR EVER PLAYED WITH SOMEONE FAMOUS? IF SO, WHO? PLEASE DESCRIBE THE CIRCUMSTANCES:
It depends on how you define "famous" :)
IF YOU COULD CHOOSE TO PLAY GOLF WITH A DREAM FOURSOME, WHO WOULD THE OTHER THREE PEOPLE BE?
Nelly Korda, Scottie Sheffler, and Michael Jordan
DO YOU HAVE ANY SUPERSTITIONS AS IT RELATES TO GOLF? IF SO, PLEASE DESCRIBE:
In tournaments I only use Titleist Pro-V1s customized with the number 23. I add a black dot just right of the number and a black line for putting. For practice rounds, I use the same ball with the same marks, but with a 00. I have to make three putts in a row on the practice green before any practice round or tournament.
DO YOU PLAY ANY GOLF VIDEO GAMES? IF SO, WHICH ONE(S)?
No
WHAT FOOD WOULD YOU SERVE AT YOUR CHAMPIONS DINNER AT AUGUSTA NATIONAL?
Filet Mignon with a loaded baked potato and rolls like Texas Roadhouse // Caesar Salad before // Brownie sundaes with chocolate ice cream
FAVORITE SCHOOL SUBJECT:
English Language Arts
FAVORITE SPORT (OTHER THAN GOLF):
Basketball - I wear the number 23, so I only play with Titleist Pro-V1s that are customized with the number 23. There is never a question if a ball is mine. Everyone I play with knows that I play Pro-V1 23.
FAVORITE MOVIE:
Legally Blonde
FAVORITE SINGER / MUSIC GROUP:
Taylor Swift and Morgan Wallen
FAVORITE TV SHOW:
The Office

FAVORITE EMOJI:

DESCRIBE ANY TALENTS OR INTERESTS OUTSIDE OF GOLF:
I play competitive basketball at a high level, and that's why I have a number 23 on my golf ball during tournaments (Michael Jordan is my favorite player). I like playing guitar, and I play flute in the school band.
DESCRIBE ANY OBSTACLES YOU’VE OVERCOME IN YOUR LIFE:
Last November, I dove head first in a basketball game for a loose ball. As a result, I was extremely dizzy for 9 weeks and could not even practice putting. I missed about half of the basketball season and all of my winter golf training, and I had to go through almost 10 weeks of vestibular eye therapy for my eyes. I went four months without swinging a club. // The year before that, I sprained my wrist and ankle during a competitive game of kickball, and I missed 6 weeks of tournament in the summer.
HERO / ROLE MODEL(S):
My mom is my hero because she is always puts her family first and always works hard to take care of us. She does not know anything about golf, but she makes sure that we have good meals before tournaments and snacks during every event. She takes me to practice when my dad is coaching even when she has a lot of other things to do for school. As a teacher, she has a really busy job, but she works so hard to make sure she is a great mom AND a great teacher.
WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work. // Everyone wants to be great until it comes time to do what greatness requires.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
I want to play on the LPGA. If that doesn't work out, I want to do something in sports medicine to help injured athletes get back to the game they love as quickly as possible.
DESCRIBE YOURSELF:
I am a sinner saved by grace who works hard to get better at the game I love every day. I am competitive and love to win. My competitive spirit drives me to practice golf every single day (even during basketball season). I love to have fun with my family and friends. My favorite things to do besides golf are walking to Starbucks with friends, playing basketball, baking desserts, and doing anything active.
